Truth is Truth

How often are you truthful?  Or perhaps a better question  is, how often are you not truthful?

Truth is a funny thing.  It can sometimes be harsh, it can sometimes be ugly, and can sometimes be hidden.  One of the great spiritual teachings tells us that “The truth will  make you free.”

Well, I’ve been in bondage long enough that I’m going to give it a try.  I’ve spent most of my life telling and living lies.

I’ve created the possibility that I can live life where my word is my bond.  None of us actually enjoy lying, none of us enjoy sneaking around, the associating guilt or negative feelings always eats at us.  Something as small as, how many times have you said you’d be home at a certain time and you weren’t?  Didn’t you feel bad, even a little?  Imagine saying something and you know, and the other person knows, it will be.  It is the highest form of integrity.

The power of words are one of the greatest powers on earth, as I live my life where I am my word, great power will be created.  A great teacher taught us that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  If our words aren’t true, if they can’t be trusted, where does that leave us?

So I’m starting on a new journey, where I speak the truth, I am a man of integrity, I am a man of my word, I am my word.

Please share something you’ve not been totally honest abouut, yes, publicly, there is a cleansing in confession, and then commit to being a man or woman of your word from this moment on.  Not tomorrow, or in the future, this isn’t something you will do, this is something you do right now.

Truth is Truth.
